Rickenbacker Guitars
Rickenbacker guitars are the instruments behind the bright, chiming sound of sixties and eighties jangle pop, built around a distinctive neck through construction and a twelve string design nobody successfully copied. Stevie's Guitars deals in them regularly and stocks parts for them as well. Best used when you want a specific Rickenbacker model or a part that the factory no longer supplies.
Steve has spent more years around these instruments than around anything else in the shop, which is why the parts side of the business grew up alongside the guitars. If you own one and something has broken, start with the parts page.

Why the Twelve Strings Are Different
The Rickenbacker twelve string headstock threads the courses in two planes, which keeps the head short and the tuning stable in a way that a standard twelve string headstock cannot match. It also means the octave strings sit in reverse order compared with most twelve strings, which is the single most common surprise for players coming from another brand.
The practical upshot is that these guitars stay in tune better than their reputation suggests, but they punish neglected tuners and worn nut slots faster than a six string does.
